TRASH

Just got back from the dunes.

We took one very interesting ride.  We first went to Comp Hill and saw literally tons of trash – we were afraid to ride down in the bowl there for fear of slicing a tire – D#$% punks in trucks.  Then we rode over to Olds - more tons of trash but not as much as at Comp - mmm.  Next, we went to Lizard or Hill 3 – more trash, not as much as Olds, but still trash.  Then Hill 4 and 5.  Trash, trash, trash – decreasing amounts as we went into the dunes, but still trash.

Punks in trucks don’t go past Olds, so it must be the duners that are trashing the dunes.  It is amazing to me that if you can carry it in, why wouldn’t you carry it out?  Yeah sure one can doesn’t make much of a difference – neither does one grain of sand.  However, put a lot of them together and what do you get?

Does Mommy still clean your room for you too?  That stuff will stay there for hundreds of years if not picked up.  Sure, we have the trash clean ups.  Nevertheless, that’s not enough.  You can tap the volunteers only so many times.

If you are one of the good duners that pick up after themselves I salute you. If you see some jerk littering, call their attention to it.  Laws and tickets aren't going to solve this problem but peer pressure will.

Thank God for Annual Glamis Cleanups or you litter bugs would get the dunes closed for sure.
