Did you EVER Notice that there's NO advertising on this site?

That's because we are not in this for the money - we are in this to save the Imperial Sand Dunes from closure - we'd rather your money go to fund the fight. Please donate to the ASA.

CLOSURES ARE STILL IN EFFECT

Penalty for Riding closed areas?

The following is from the BLM site at the following link: http://www.blm.gov/nhp/news/regulatory/2930/9260.htm

Sec. 9262.1 Penalties for unauthorized use, occupancy, or development of public lands. Under section 303(a) of the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 (43 U.S.C. 1733(a)) any person who knowingly and willfully violates the provisions of Secs. 2801.3(a), 2812.1-3, 2881.3, or 2920.1-2(a) of this title, by using public lands without the requisite authorization, may be tried before a United States magistrate and fined no more than $1,000 or imprisoned for no more than 12 months, or both.

The History of the CBD Lawsuit

Below are links to various sources of information relating to the CBD lawsuit against the BLM. The links are in an order such that a reader can start at the top and, working their way to the bottom, quickly get up to speed on almost all aspects of the events and issues that lead to unwarranted closure of more than 49,000 acres of the Imperial Sand Dune Recreation Area (ISDRA).

Since this page was first written over 4 years ago, some of the links to BLM pages are currently not working. BLM is in the process of revamping their site. We are waiting until that project is complete to find what the new links are. BLM is great about giving us new links as they are created.

Some BLM links are working since they are reproduced on this site - others have been updated. Either way, there's more information here to keep even the most avid reader busy.
